Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice review/reaction to critics

It's a beautiful mess. One of the most beautiful messes of a film I have ever seen. It ranged from epic, to almost boring, fast to slow, amazing sequences to scenes that made no sense. And you know what? I liked it.
The things that were good, were really great. How the world would react to Superman, what life was like after the destruction in Man of Steel, the action sequences, the visuals, the character of Batman, and of course, Ben Affleck as Batman. There's an understanding they were making a much more mature comic book film here. It's not trying to be a more light-hearted and fun Marvel film. No, this is the film that separates it and says "We're no Marvel film." And it does that aspect well. From the opening 9/11-esque imagery, to the CNN news pieces on the controversy of "the Superman". But after that, this film begins to crumble. As you hear the eccentric, and cartoony voice of "Lex Luthor", and the whole last 25 minutes of the film, you can see what went wrong. The script, and Zack Snyder.
The script is one of the most rushed scripts I've seen in a while. From the invention of Doomsday, to the team-up of Supes and Bats, to Lois Lane in the finale, some parts needed to be revised for the epic and powerful story they REALLY wanna tell. Plus, the dream sequences did not work for me at all personally. Part of it is, they picked the oldest 15-year old man to direct this film.
I'm not gunna deny his love of comics. But his directing? Meh. His best film is and always will be 300. Because that story was MADE for him.
Great visuals, simple barebones story, and action. And Zack Snyder directed the hell out of it.
But this film? I'm sorry but, his direction was probably the reason for most of the "complaints" of this film. He's great for visuals, and that's about it.
Which leads into the next part, the reaction of this film.
Jesus. You either love or hate this film. And I have something to say to both.
Love: It's not as "brilliant" as you think, and it's "not too smart" for Marvel fans. Sure, they're judging it unfairly, but a great number of them see the same flaws I see. And that's not because it's "too smart", it's because it's just really dark and different. Some people are just not fans.
Hate: Honestly, I see the flaws, but come on. It's not another Marvel fun fest, it's a whole different approach at comic book films. Sure it's CGI'd to hell. But so are Marvel's films. And complaints are really nitpicky with the exception of a few.
I'm still uneasy of the Batman death toll tbh.
7/10
